South African Foreign Exchange Committee Public Register

The South African Foreign Exchange Committee (SAFXC) encourages wholesale foreign exchange market participants to demonstrate their commitment to transparent, fair and robust market practices by publishing their Statements of Commitment (SoCs) to the FX Global Code (FX Code) on the SAFXC Public Register. For further information on the FX Code and the SoC, please refer to the Global Foreign Exchange Committee (GFXC) website.

The register aims to strengthen market confidence and transparency by providing clients, counterparties and the public with a consolidated view of market participants’ alignment with the FX Code. It also supports broader adoption of sound FX practice across South Africa and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, and links to the Global Index of public registers.

The Public Register will include each market participant’s name, participant type, admission or publication date, a signed SoC and jurisdiction or geographic location.

Eligibility and admission

  • The Public Register is open to wholesale FX market participants, as defined by the FX Code, that operate in South Africa and have signed a SoC.
  • Market participants in the SADC region may formally request inclusion on the register to signal their alignment with global standards.
  • The SoC must comply with the standard FX Code format.
  • Participating South African entities may be requested to outline their governance framework and compliance processes to embed the FX Code into their business operations.
  • Following publication of a revised FX Code by the Global Foreign Exchange Committee, market participants are encouraged to renew their SoCs and submit them to the SAFXC Secretariat for inclusion on the register.

The SAFXC Secretariat administers and maintains the Public Register. Market participants who wish to publish or update their SoCs may submit their requests to SAFXCSecretariat@resbank.co.za.
