The flow-of-funds framework in South Africa integrates real and financial transaction flows to summarise the inter-linkages in the macroeconomic activity. The compilation of the flow-of-funds accounts relies on data collected through surveys and other sources of information available to the Research Department of the South African Reserve Bank (the Bank), in order to outline flows of funds among the main sectors of the economy. The quarterly accounts for 2009 are appended to this note and the annual summary appears on pagesS–44 to S–45 in this issue of the Quarterly Bulletin.
