Statement issued by the South African Reserve Bankon the Gold and Foreign Exchange Reservesof the Bank as at 30 September 2000 3 October 2000 The Bank's provisional gross gold and foreign exchange reserves amounted to R54,7 billion as at 30 September 2000, compared to R52,1 billion as at 31 August 2000. The utilisation of foreign credit lines at the end of September 2000 amounted to R18,9 billion, compared to R18,1 billion as at the end of August 2000.The net open foreign currency position (NOFP) was US$9,6 billion at close of business on 30 September 2000 compared to US$9,7 as at the end of August 2000.The outstanding oversold forward book of the Bank was US$14,6 billion at close of business on 30 September 2000, compared to US$14,7 at the end of August 2000.Any possible changes to these preliminary figures will be reflected in the Bank's monthly Statement of Assets and Liabilities to be published on Monday, 9 October 2000.
