Statement issued by the South African Reserve Bankon the Gold and Foreign Exchange Reservesof the Bank as at 31 May 2000 2 June 2000 The Bank's provisional gross gold and foreign exchange reserves amounted to R50,7 billion as at 31 May 2000, compared to R50,0 billion as at 30 April 2000. The utilisation of foreign credit lines at the end of May 2000 amounted to R17,1 billion, compared to R16,7 billion as at the end of April 2000.The net open foreign currency position (NOFP) was unchanged at US$10,2 billion at close of business on 31 May 2000 compared to the end of April 2000.The outstanding oversold forward book of the Bank was US$15,1 billion at close of business on 31 May 2000, compared to US$15,2 billion at the end of April 2000.Any possible changes to these preliminary figures will be reflected in the Bank's monthly Statement of Assets and Liabilities to be published on Thursday 8 June 2000.
