Statement issued by the South African Reserve Bankon the Gold and Foreign Exchange Reservesof the Bank as at 28 February 1998 3 March 1998 The Bank's provisional gross gold and foreign exchange reserves amounted to R30,9 billion as at 28 February 1998, compared to R27,9 billion as at 31 January 1998. The utilisation of foreign credit lines at the end of February 1998 amounted to R9,1 billion compared to R9,4 billion as at 31 January 1998.The net oversold foreign exchange open position of the Bank amounted to US$14,0 billion as at close of business on 28 February 1998 compared to US$16,5 billion as at 31 January 1998.Any possible changes to these preliminary figures will be reflected in the Bank's monthly Statement of Assets and Liabilities to be published on Monday, 9 March 1998.
