Climate data is essential in informing investment decisions; risk management and regulation as well as monitoring and understanding the risks and opportunities associated with the green transition. Assessments of price and financial stability can be hampered if large data gaps exist, limiting the effectiveness of climate risk management and monitoring of regulated entities such as banks and insurers. This paper aims to offer insights into the climate data needs of the BRICS central banks and the role of emerging technologies to bridge climate data gaps.
