Deputy Governor Dr Renosi Mokate’s five-year term of office with the South African Reserve Bank expires on 31st July, 2010. By mutual agreement, and following the due process of consultation between the Board and the President, Dr Mokate will not renew her contract. The President will, in due course, advise the Bank as to who he has decided to appoint as the next Deputy Governor. The South African Reserve Bank takes this opportunity to thank Dr Mokate for her contribution to the work of the Bank, the SA Bank Note Company and the SA Mint. As chairperson of the subsidiaries, and member of the GEC and the Monetary Policy Committee Dr Mokate exercised her responsibilities with professionalism and commitment. Dr Mokate will serve a three month cooling off period until end October 2010. We wish her well in the next challenge she chooses to embark on.
