​It is my pleasure to advise that, after due process and consideration, the following appointments have been made:Ms Zanele MavusoMbatha to the position of Head: Financial Markets Department, with effect from 1 January 2011. She takes over from Dr Roelf du Plooy, who goes on retirement on 30 April 2011. Dr Roelf du Plooy joined the South African Reserve Bank on 1 February 1992 and will remain with the Financial Markets Department as an advisor until his retirement.Mr André Bezuidenhout to the position of Head: Risk Management and Compliance Department, a newly created department, with effect from 1 December 2010. Mr André Bezuidenhout joined the South African Reserve Bank on 1 June 1991.Dr Rashad Cassim to the position of Head: Research Department with effect from 1 March 2011. Dr Cassim holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cape Town. Prior to his appointment to the South African Reserve Bank, Dr Cassim has held positions of Head of the School of Economics and Business Sciences at the University of Witwatersrand and he joined Statistics South Africa in 2006 as Head and Deputy Director General: Economic Statistics. We wish him success in his career with the South African Reserve Bank as he takes up the new challenge.Ms MavusoMbatha, Mr Bezuidenhout and Dr Cassim are warmly congratulated on their appointments, and we wish them well in the challenging times ahead.
