As part of a restructuring process, two key appointments have been made at the South African Reserve Bank.Dr Johan van den Heever, who was Senior Deputy Head of Research Department, responsible for the Financial Markets and Public Finance Unit as well as the National Economy Unit, was appointed Head: Research Department with effect from 1 January 2006. Dr van den Heever has had an illustrious career with the Bank. He was appointed to the Bank on the 1 October 1987 and has been in the employ of the Bank for 18 years.Ms Disebo Consiglio Moephuli, who is currently the treasurer at the Development Bank of South Africa, has been appointed Head: Financial Markets Department with effect from 6 February 2006.Mrs Moephuli holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Economics and Statistics from the National University of Lesotho and an MBA in Finance from the Dalhousie University in Canada. At the Development Bank of South Africa she was previously the Deputy Treasurer and Asset and Liability Manager. Prior to joining the Development Bank of South Africa she was a dealer at Rand Merchant Bank and First National Bank.Dr van den Heever and Ms Moephuli replace Dr Monde Mnyande and Daniel Mminele, respectively. Dr Mnyande and Mr Mminele, along with Mr Errol Kruger, the Registrar of Banks, and Mr Bertus van Zyl, formerly the advisor to the Governor, have been appointed as Executive General Managers. Mr Kruger remains the Registrar. The Executive General Managers, the Deputy Governors and the Governor constitute the Governor's Executive Committee.
