At its regular meeting on 3 September 2003, the Governor’s Committee of the South African Reserve Bank discussed recent global and domestic economic and financial developments. It became evident during that discussion that major underlying trends in the economy required a more detailed review. To that extent, I have convened a special meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee on Wednesday, 10 September 2003. The MPC meeting will start at 10:30am and conclude in the afternoon. A press conference will be held shortly thereafter to announce the conclusion of the meeting.  TT MboweniGovernor
