The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has been restructured and now comprises the following people: Mr Tito MboweniGovernor Dr XP GumaDeputy Governor Ms Gill MarcusDeputy Governor Dr Ernie van der MerweChief Economist and Head of Research Dr Bernie de JagerSenior Deputy Chief Economist Mr Brian KahnDeputy Chief Economist andHead of the Monetary Policy Research Unit Mr Bertus van ZylAdvisor to the Governors The secretary of the MPC is Ms. Zodwa Matsau, Secretary of the South African Reserve Bank.The MPC will continue to meet over two days, as was the case last year. The first day of the meeting will consist of an information session. A number of senior staff members will be invited to participate and give presentations on recent economic and financial developments in South Africa and internationally. On the second day of the meeting the MPC members will meet by themselves to deliberate on the monetary policy stance after which a short statement will be issued. The MPC will meet on the following dates:13 & 14 March 200212 & 13 June 200211 & 12 September 200227 & 28 November 2002
